Fifteen Years of Watson Martial Arts: Thank You, St. Louis - Watson Martial Arts

Fifteen years ago, Watson Martial Arts opened with a mission that hasn’t changed since day one: help people become better versions of themselves, daily. The Art of Improvement isn’t just our motto, it’s the standard we’ve built everything around. Three locations later, we’re in our best home yet on Papin Street in St. Louis, MO, and on July 11th, hundreds of our members, families, and friends showed up to celebrate fifteen years with us. It turned into an all day and all night affair we won’t forget.

To everyone who walked through our doors that day, and to everyone who has trained here over the last fifteen years, thank you. You are the reason this academy thrives.

Free Clinics on Both Floors

We kicked things off with free seminars running all morning across both floors. Downstairs, our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu coaches broke down high-level BJJ concepts. Upstairs, our Muay Thai staff ran clinics on striking fundamentals and advanced setups. Every session was open to members at no cost.

One of the best parts of martial arts in St. Louis is how much knowledge gets passed around when people are willing to share it, and our coaches were happy to give their time to make that happen.

Puppies & A Forever Home

We also partnered with a local rescue to bring adoptable puppies out to the event so people could play with them, donate to their organization, and hopefully find a match.

And one of them did. A puppy from the event went home with one of our own students that day. That might be our favorite thing that happened all weekend.

A Raffle Made Possible by Incredible Generosity

Our raffle featured more than $2,500 worth of donated prizes, all of it contributed by businesses, partners, and community members who believe in what we’re doing. That kind of support doesn’t happen by accident, and we’re genuinely grateful for every single donation.

Thank you to everyone who gave. You made that part of the day special.

Food, Community, and the After Party

A BBQ food truck kept everyone fed through the afternoon while people hung out in the parking lot, caught up, and got to know each other better. That’s the part of a martial arts gym that doesn’t show up in a class schedule, and it’s the part that keeps people coming back.

That night, the celebration continued with our UFC watch party, where a great crowd came out to close the day the right way.

Our Members Made It Happen

Our members didn’t just attend, they worked. People showed up early to help set up, and stayed late to help tear down. The fact that the people who train here take ownership of the place shows the community we’ve built.
